J'ai eu un peu de temps pour réfléchir en jogging ce midi et le souvenir de ma dernière course sérieuse m'est revenu. C'était les championnats Canadiens de cyclocross de 2002 que j'avais également organisé avec Benoît Simard et Bruno Vachon à Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures. J'ai même trouvé un article dans Velonews : Bessette and Legga tops at Canadian 'cross Nationals.
J'y ai terminé à l'ingrate 4ieme place à 14 secondes d'Andreas Hestler, un modèle de ma jeunesse. Mais c'était la course la plus sublime de ma vie, les spectateurs me portaient littéralement par leurs encouragements, je n'avais jamais vécu ça et j'imagine que c'est ce que les top pros ressentent dans leurs course. Magique!
Même Tim Johnson m'a prêté son rouleau d'entraînement pour le réchauffement. J'ai pu lui parler un bon moment avant et après la course et c'est vraiment un chic type.
Après nous sommes sortis avec le contingent de l'ouest au restaurant et dans un bar. Ça aussi c'était très bien!
I had a little time for my mind to wander a little bit while jogging this lunchtime and the memorie of my last serious race came back to me. It was the Candian cyclocross championship in 2002, that I also had put together with Benoît Simard and Bruno Vachon. They were held in the Quebec city suburbs. I even found an article in Velonews:: Bessette and Legga tops at Canadian 'cross Nationals.
I finished at the worst position you can : 4th at 14 seconds of Andreas Hestler, a model from my youth. But it was the most amazing race of my life, the crowd was litteraly made me fly by shouting my name, I never felt that before and it's probably how top pros feel on big races. Magic!
Even Tim Johnson lent me his trainer for my warm-up. I had the chance to chat with him before and after the race and he's a really nice guye.
After the race, we went out the the west cost people at a restaurant and a bar. That was nice too.
